One story just got to unfold, developing a lot of tension and doing more to develop Simmons than the previous two seasons combined. Some series are good at doing lots of things at once and doing them all well, but “SHIELD” isn't a fantastic multi-tasker. “Agents of SHIELD” is a busy show by design, with lots of characters, lots of story arcs, and occasional pauses to service the needs of Marvel's movies.
